(San Francisco, CA) 24 April 2012: Call for Applications for Clausen Fellowship, Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) Manager
Microclinic International (MCI) is an organization that works with local community partners to set up public health educational programs targeting large scale public health epidemics. Last year, MCI partnered with the Cumberland Valley District Health Department in Bell County, Kentucky to establish its first project within the United States. The program takes advantage of natural social networks by allowing participants to group with friends and family members. These small groups, or “microclinics”, promote accountability for making lifestyle changes to promote sustainable health improvements. The Kentucky project is beginning the second year of its two-year pilot program and MCI is conducting a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to study the effectiveness of the program model.
MCI has a 1-year fellowship opening for an on-site study coordinator to facilitate the implementation of the RCT in Bell County, Kentucky. The fellow would be responsible for overseeing and helping the local team conduct routine screenings on the study groups for various health indicators including weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, lipid profile and hemoglobin A1c. The fellow’s primary responsibility would be to ensure the RCT is well-managed. The fellow will receive a stipend of $25,000 for the year to cover living expenses and will be required to relocate to the project site.
• Highly organized, extreme attention to detail and familiar navigating databases to manage data.
